Walt Disney Animation Studios Rigging Reel
DEMO REEL BREAKDOWN
Encanto-Julieta Rig
Responsible for face and body rig for Mirabel’s mom, Julieta. Worked with a great character team to bring a lot of warmth to this character and her performance.
Encanto-Crowd Rigs
On Encanto my role was as the Crowd Rig Lead. My job was to help manage and oversee all of the crowd rig asset delivery and help our transition to delivering and utilizing USDSkel for our crowds process. This involved continued evaluation of the assets with Animation(for creating crowd cycles) and the Crowds department to ensure our deliveries were clean.
In addition to overseeing the asset delivery and technical pipeline updates, I also rigged several of our crowd characters, including several not pictured in the reel. I was responsible for rigging the body and face as well as rigging the clothing. All in all, I was responsible for about 75% of the rigs for the 15 unique crowd element designs.
Ralph Breaks the Internet-Vehicle Rigs
Responsible for rigging most of the vehicles on the movie, including these two from this sequence.
Ralph Breaks the Internet-Net User Crowd Rigs
Worked with Animation and Crowds departments to ensure an efficient delivery of these sets of crowd elements to try and maximize re-use across a variety of very similar block heads.(There were several unique iterations of different nose and eye shape types that are certainly not immediately noticeable). These Net Users had particular bendy limb set up that was unique to only the Net Users. Managed the rigging and binding of all the different hats, hairs, and facial hairs on all the characters to allow for maximum amounts of unique variations.
Ralph Breaks the Internet-Grumpy Rig
Responsible for creating an animation rig, both body and face, for Grumpy. It was a lot of fun and a bit nerve racking to work on such an iconic character. His unique and distinct features were fun to work on. Unfortunately, his role in the film diminished and we do not get to see as much as the rig could do.
Zootopia-Rigs
Was responsible for rigging a lot of characters on Zootopia. Finnick and Frufru(the shrew bride) were two main characters I worked on. Also responsible for a large number of crowd rig elements. The Rhino and Hippo are featured here, but there were many others including polarBears, deer and more. Not featured in the reel, but worth noting, I also was responsible for all train rigs, and a large number of vehicle rigs used throughout the movie.
Get a Horse Rigs
Responsible for rigging a large number of characters for the Academy Award Nominated short, Get a Horse. Worked on Clarabelle Cow. She was a unique challenge. This was my first project at Disney and I was getting to work on such an iconic character. Her udders were rigged in such a way to allow her to play them like a bagpipe. That was a cool challenge. In addition to Clarabelle, I also rigged the cat, old goat, pig, the bear, and oswald the lucky rabbit.
